“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude” – Oprah Winfrey
Today I had a WONDERFUL DAY, the best possible start to the week imaginable and I am full of possibility for the future. I recently blogged about being unemployed and what a wonderful opportunity I have to find a job that inspires and fulfils me – see my blog entry on Day 7! – I have since been following the advice of Louise Hay and other wonderful authors and started learning about the power of Positive Thinking. Some people, my dad included, think the whole theory of ‘Every thought you think is creating your future’ is madness and how could this possibly be true. Admittedly, when I was in a dark place a few years ago, I could understand this point of view because – how could it possibly be true? Well I’m here to tell you, as a regular everyday Auzzie girl, that it is a powerful tool in changing your life.
After the article I wrote the other day I dragged out my entire collection of self-help books (yes, there are a few! Mainly Louise Hay Because that woman is a genius!) and delved into the world of positive affirmations and how they can change your life. I’m not saying I’ve had miracles occur but I am saying than in the space of a week, my life is slowly changing for the better. I began affirming that I am worthy of good life and good experiences and that I deserved employment which would make me happy. I also told myself, over and over, that there is no limit on prosperity and there was always more prosperity for me to receive. The great thing about saying things repetitively is that you start to believe what you’re affirming! After a few days of actively being positive about my employment situation I applied for a government role which was a bit different from all the other jobs I had been applying for but I had the confidence to go for it, so I did. I put the application in and the next working day (today) I got the call for an interview.
I don’t know if I will get the job but I am going to give it a red hot go. I know that my skills and abilities stand on their own but by employing the power of positive thinking I am telling the world that I want a good job, one where I can help people and fulfil my creative desires. Today I felt that the world is starting to listen and give back. It’s only a start but I am beyond exited. I cannot wait to get back into the working world – I chose to take a couple of months off after I quit my last job and I feel that I am finally ready to take on new challenges; I feel deserving of a wonderful new opportunity to put my unique talents and abilities to good use.
This is definitely a path I am going to persevere with because positive thinking can only bring more light into your life. Even in tough times, things are easier to get through if you tell yourself it is going to be OK. Not only am I going to be OK, I am going to be fine. In fact, I am fine, I am better than that, I am feeling great and things are on the up for me. I know there may be down days but with the help of positivity I know I’ll make it through and eventually, Find My Wild.
If you’re lost on where to start – begin with ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ by Louise Hay. It may have been published before I was even born (1984!) but it is more relevant today, than ever. Trust me, if you read this book, your life will change for the better!
